Eric Gill is often hailed as the ‘father of typography’ in twentieth century British Art. He was particularly active in Ditchling in the 1920s. Despite this, he was later discovered to have sexually abused both of his daughters and his dog, leaving the Ditchling Museum of Art, a gallery with the largest collection of Gill’s work, facing a dilemma of how/if to display his work. In a workshop with survivors and staff, we facilitated the production of a series of trauma-informed values for appropriate curation of Gill’s work, one which redirects profits to survivors.

Therapists & The Trauma Sector

The Masters Series bridges the gap between research, tools, and techniques in trauma, mental health and wellbeing.

In this lecture, Sophia breaks down the systematic challenges in the legal and justice sector, and compares this with when survivors traditionally seek support from therapists.

Media & Culture

People Like Us is an award-winning not-for-profit celebrating media and marketing professionals from Black, Asian, Mixed Race and minoritised ethnic backgrounds. They spotlight talent through 5-minute talks in design and marketing agencies.

Universities/ Arts and Culture

We worked with graphics and illustration BA students at the University of Westminster to teach trauma-informed design by building a live brief on designing an exhibition about sexual violence. This led to exploring how trauma-informed approaches to difficult conversations apply in the visual and design industry.

Sexual Violence Sector

In 2024, the Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse published a knowledge review Child sexual abuse of African, Asian and Caribbean heritage children. Following from the recommendations of this report, Sophia, alongside two colleagues at the centre, were commissioned to facilitate and co-design the first UK network of professionals of colour working to support survivors of childhood sexual abuse from racialised backgrounds.

The work is still underway, and the entire process including the aims, outcomes, regularly and structure of the group's meetings are decided by the participants themselves.

International Governments

In 2024, WHO and Unicef, together with the governments of Colombia and Sweden hosted the first global ministerial conference on ending childhood violence. Sophia was a representative of the UK as part of The Brave Movement, a survivor-centered global movement campaigning for the right of all children and adolescents to live a life in safety and dignity, free from sexual violence. Schools and Universities

The University of RMIT in Vietnam hosts an annual national summit on Vietnam Wellbeing & Safeguarding.

We delivered a workshop on identifying signs of childhood sexual abuse in a Vietnamese context to a team of headteachers, school councillors and university lecturers.
